The Harvest is a very special time of the year and the perfect backdrop to a tour about agriculture. It is an opportunity to share in the fruits of the labor.

Head to the Classroom where our guide will teach you about the life cycle of a pumpkin as you explore the many varieties we grow at Nickajack Farms.

  • A scenic 1/2 hour hay wagon ride around the crops of the farm.
  • An unguided visit to Farmer Joe’s Barnyard, Rascal’s Roundup, Play Ground, Discovery Barn, Activity Barn and Horse Education Center.
  • Each student will receive a pumpkin! It will be the perfect size for them to transport home.
  • Add a pony ride for $5 per student!

Students will learn about safety, specifics of handling horses and basic procedures to keep handlers and horses happy and healthy. Students will learn grooming techniques, handling the horse in the stall, pasture and leading. They will practice grooming, learning about which tools to use when,  and they will also cover hoof care and trimming.  Add a pony ride for $5 per student.

Perfectly designed for 3rd grade and up, it will provide a hands-on adventure with learning including spatial thinking and skills, civic participation and skills, economic decision making and skills, financial literacy. The day will be packed full of learning, adventure, and team building.  Any excess time will allow for full access to the Fall Fest for your class. This admission gives your classroom learning about corn and its effects on the Ohio economy.

Some things to keep in mind

  • Pick the best day and time for you and your group to come out and learn on the farm.
  • Join us for lunch! We offer plenty of space for you and your class to have lunch. Want to save time and trouble? We can supply a box lunch for you. Call for a quote.
  • Learning about money or budgets? Feel free to let your class shop in The Market. Don’t want to deal with it? No problem you can pass right through without a stop.
  • Pony Rides! Yep your class can take a pony ride while they are here. $5 per student, note each ride must have a signed waiver by their guardian. We will send you a link to share or print for parents
  • Teachers & Staff are always free. If you need help our ratios for free chaperones are: preschool – 1 to 4, for elementary – 1 to 5. If you need additional help parents, guests and siblings are the same cost as the students.
  • Fall field trips other than the Fall Fest School Day, do not include Fall Fest activities l ie: corn maze & gourd golf. If your group would like to do an abridged version of Fall Fest please let us know and we will build a package for you.
